Dear Members of the Gesellschaft für Biologische Strahlenforschung (GBS),

We announce with great pleasure that the European Radiation Research Society (ERRS) and the Gesellschaft für Biologische Strahlenforschung (GBS) entrusted us the organization of a joint meeting in Essen in 2017.
The meeting is now scheduled for September 18 – 21 at the Campus of the Medical School of the University Duisburg-Essen (Universitätsklinikum Essen). Our goal is to generate a forum for groups and projects in the field of Radiation Research in Europe. Now more than ever, it seems important and opportune to amplify the communication channels among us, to enhance interactions and foster synergisms in our work.
The conference will encompass presentations from all major topics of Radiation Research from molecular to cellular effects, as well as effects at the level of organisms, including humans. We will make an effort to also include presentations of promising translational approaches and novel treatments. We work hard to secure keynote talks from leaders in our fields of study!
It is our great pleasure that many prominent members of both Societies have accepted our invitation to help with the organization of this event. For more information and details, as they develop, keep looking periodically at our website in the coming weeks and months.
Please find attached the current version of the poster for the meeting. Feel free to print out and distribute to interested colleagues.
We would like to cordially invite you to contribute to this unique event with a presentation reflecting your current research activities. In addition to invited talks, we also plan to fill the majority of the planned sessions with oral presentations selected from the submitted abstracts after evaluation by the organizing committee. We also plan poster sessions and poster prices for more interactions, exposure and fun.
We consider a Workshop tentatively scheduled for the 17.09.2016 for our Young Investigators designed as a primer in the Science of Radiation Research and as a communication platform.
IMPORTANT: Also this year both ERRS and GBS will fund travel awards to selected PhD students following evaluation of their abstract.
Abstract Submission and Registration will start on March 15th.
We sincerely hope that you will make every effort to participate and contribute to this special event of our field and look forward to welcoming you in Essen.
