Dear Members of GBS, dear scientists,
It is a great pleasure that GBS entrusted us as local organizers of the 2018 21st annual meeting in Frankfurt am Main.
The meeting will encompass presentations from all major topics of radiation research ranging from molecular to cellular effects, interrelationship with the immune system and target therapies. In line with that, we will make an effort to include presentations of promising translational approaches in radiation oncology. Moreover, keynote presentations from leaders in their fields will introduce the scientific background and will provide an overview covering recent developments in their areas of research.
We would like to cordially invite you to contribute a presentation reflecting your current research activities in the field of radiation research. In addition to invited key note presentations as mentioned above, opportunities of oral presentations selected after evaluation by the organizing scientific committee will be given in each scientific session. Similar to preceding conferences, the 2018 program starts with a session organized by young investigators followed by sessions covering mechanisms of DNA repair and DNA damage response by ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, the immune system in the context of radiobiology, strategies to optimize radiation response and radiation protection. The oral presentations will be finalized by a session entitled “Radiobiology meets the clinics: translational research” in an attend to bring together clinicians, radiation biologists and physicists.
The conference will further include poster sessions for close interaction and personal discussion of novel data. In each of the four scientific categories the best poster will be awarded by a poster price. Additionally, GBS again will fund travel awards to selected students following evaluation of their abstract and outstanding scientists, contributions and manuscripts will be honored by the Ullrich Hagen and GBS Young Investigator award and by the “Paper of the Year” award in biology, physics and medicine.
The meeting is scheduled for September 17th -19th at the Campus of the University Hospital of the Goethe-University in Frankfurt am Main, centrally located in the city and near to the main railway station.
Please find the announcement (poster) for the meeting as a download and feel free to distribute it to your colleagues and present or post it at your institutes and departments.
Deadline for abstract submission is extended to June 11th, early registration for June 30th. Submission and registration will be operated by the GBS website.
We sincerely hope that you will contribute to this exciting event and look forward to welcoming you in Frankfurt in September.
